Health and Safety Video – Lear Corporation
We were tasked with the production of a health and safety video for Lear Corporation. Lear was founded in 1917 in Detroit Michigan, originally as a manufacturer of tubular welded and stamped assemblies for the automotive and aircraft industries. Over time they developed and refined their products manufacturing to a wide range from seating to E-systems. Over this period they also grew to 243 locations across 37 countries with approximately 150 000 employees.
The video starts with a short history of Lear, which provides context to their vision and mission and how it applies to their operations and brand as a whole. This is an important consideration for a health and safety video as it creates context for the training as a function of the company brand. It also instils a sense of pride for the employees, as they learn the role they play in the larger function of the business and its impact on the world in general.
Lear corporation have very strict health and safety regulations based on EHS standards. This includes PPE, access protocol, site safety procedures, signage, specialised health and safety precautions —among others. The video also covers different health and safety procedures for visitors, contractors and employees. This approach allows for multiple versions of the video which saves valuable time during the induction process.
The video was filmed on-site at their Port Elizabeth branch, by our team. The Shoot days were planned in advance in collaboration with the Lear team to ensure every potential filming opportunity was capitalised on. This included preparation of the site, from cleaning and tidying to employee PPE and uniforms. The script was written and adapted by our team, which was accompanied by a comprehensive shot list. The shot list ensured we filmed every process and allowed for more detailed preparation of the various shots throughout the video.
The videos narration was recorded in-house in our recording studio using a member of our team as the voice artist. Our team consists of multiple highly experienced voice artists, which may be leveraged for content production projects at a much more competitive rate than hired talent. This saved the client on budget, which could be allocated towards additional time for filming, motion graphics and design. Speaking of which, the motion graphics and custom design were also developed in-house by our design team in conjunction with the Lear team.
