We were tasked with the development and facilitation of the Hybrid Live Stream for the AGOA Exporter of the Year Awards for the second year in a row. The Live Stream event involved a combination of pre-recorded interviews, mini documentaries and additional complementary graphics and animation. The event was done in collaboration with USAID, who provided us with additional video material for various award nominees from the US who could not make the physical event. In order to maintain a consistent ‘look and feel’ we provided them with a template design for the event in advance, to keep it looking professional. We also travelled to the western cape in advance and interviewed the various winners which we edited into mini documentaries. This was the ideal format as each company got to highlight their processes and products in a uniform manner. This also pushed the production value of the show, as each attendee got a proper glimpse into what makes these award winners special. The event also included live speakers, who were set up with wide, medium and close up angles of the stage which we rotated through as the event goes on. If a new speaker came in we would change the camera angles and complementary content to match their output. This also included an additional stream that was run by our second team, which we would incorporate into the main stream based on our programming.

This is why we call it Hybrid Live Streaming as it incorporates numerous multimedia, additional streams and content which is managed on a strict program. This also meant we had a dynamic stream of additional complementary media that would stream on screens at the awards ceremony on multiple screens at the same time. This project required a ton of planning and experience to ensure everything kept running smoothly.

After the event ended we also provided the client with the entire recorded stream for viewers to view afterwards, the stream was also edited and streamlined as a final product before handing it over the clients to host on their website. Speaking of the website, we also developed it in conjunction with the awards show, which facilitated the entire process, as potential winners would send their submission through the site. Along with the website we also marketed the website and event for the client to keep the exposure and attendance as high as possible. It is of vital importance when live streaming an event that you find a professional company, because once the event starts it is already too late to make changes or fixes.
