Safety Induction Video – FirstRand
Health and Safety has always been an integral part of corporate responsibility. With the increasing demand for accountability for safety in the workplace, corporate companies are becoming more inclined to produce safety induction videos. Our team was recently tasked with producing a safety induction video for FirstRand, and we want to share our experience with you.
FirstRand is an integrated financial services provider operating in South Africa, certain markets in sub-Saharan Africa, the UK, and India. Our team was approached to create a comprehensive safety induction video that could be shared across various locations. The creation of the video required intense planning, walkthroughs, and site visits to capture relevant footage.
It’s becoming increasingly popular for corporate companies to create safety induction videos, and not just in industries like mining and manufacturing. These videos are no longer reserved for specialist purposes but are also being used to design awareness campaigns for both on-site and off-site employees. A broad range of topics may be addressed in the video, including access control, ergonomics, emergency response, ISO 14001 international standards, energy conservation, waste reduction, and more. A comprehensive safety induction video can provide detailed information about the risks associated with each workplace’s specific environment, helping in proactive measures to prevent accidents.
The creation of the FirstRand safety induction video was guided by their in-house team of experts and was divided into clear sections, ensuring it would be easy to understand. The video emphasised the importance of reducing water consumption, energy consumption, and reducing waste sent to landfills. It also highlighted safe manual handling practices and proper workstation ergonomics. The video also incorporated sections on stairs, electrical equipment, driven vehicles, and hazardous and flammable chemicals.
In the production process, we relied on a team of experts who provided the necessary guidance for the content’s accuracy and safety representation. The footage was captured on-site, with an emphasis on showcasing common and uncommon safety hazards. Through the combination of still and Motion Graphic elements, we were able to create an engaging video that proved to be an effective way to communicate vital safety information to employees, visitors, contractors, stakeholders, and partners.
Safety is of utmost importance in any workplace and cannot be overlooked under any circumstance. Safety induction videos are emerging as an effective medium of communicating safety guidelines and alerting employees to the risks around them. A video will ensure that all staff becomes well-versed in the company’s safety protocols and standards.
